guilt folllows you

my thoughts on the book of the school shooting on the pages its actually surprising and sad and kinda scary that there would be people who would do that to kids or even want to hurt kids that  maybe will have a future. Gary and Brendan had to go through the guilt and wounder if they were actually going  too kill the kids in the gym. Gary felt like he was going to kill the jocks and other people he actually said no because he had that shame if he did it was going be on him that he killed people.

its saying even how far you put the guilt behind you its still there

In any school, who decides which students are cool or popular and which students are outcasts?

In school there isn't really a way to tell if a kid should be popular, cool,or an outcast it just happens on the way you dress, the people you hangout with and the people that talk to you. That is how school works every school has there own group of popular kids. The thing i know about popular kids is that they like to make fun of people who don't even do anything to them they just do it to make fun of someone or just to impress their friends on how funny or bad they are popular kids get invited to a lot of parties and everybody knows them around the whole school that is what popular for me is what about. An outcast is someone who doesn't talk to people or they are nerds and nobody likes them, everybody knows what outcasts are they don't have friends they are not cool or they only have friends who are outcasts too. Popluar kids like making fun of people who are outcasts because they know if they make fun of them they wont say or do anything to make them stop making fun because people who are outcasts are shy or don't have the guts to go up to one of them and tell them to leave them alone.I think that nobody chooses whether you are popular or if you are an outcast i think people choose that way of going to school with the name “he is popular” or “he is a outcast “ maybe that is the what they want to spend their school years with.

my emotions on the book

my emotions on the book so far when Gary and Brandon tied up the jocks and other kids in the center of gym. Gary felt a little guilt because he didn't want to go threw with it and he had guilt and ashamed. gray pulled Brandon aside and said i think we shouldn't shoot theses kids and Brandon was like why. Gary felt guilt that he was going to kill someone and he would have the thought that someone would die.

In the real world, which are young adults influenced more by, their parents or their peers?

Their peers because if a parent tells a kid to do something they wouldn't want to do it they might do it but in a annoyed, bothered way.But if their peers tell them to do something they would do it if a group of friends were smoking or drinking and if they ask you if you want to smoke or drink if you might say no and then they tell you “everybody is doing it”  and then you would get into peer pressure. This world is kinda bad because kids are not obeying their parents anymore and they listen more to their friends,They are influenced more by their peers than their parents.

Gun Control

Gun Control has become a major issue nowadays. To think that Todd Strasser based Give a Boy a Gun on the incident that happened at Columbine is shocking. Now there is debate over whether or not citizen should have the right to bear arms. One of the conditions that were put in a proposal was that there should be enforced background check. In my opinion I don’t think that would work because the person trying to get hold of a gun for malicious purposes can get someone that has a “clean” background to get a gun for them. This is not a simple debate. Gun Control affects many, not just one person. Take the incident that happened in Newtown, Connecticut it left a whole nation devastated. Even in the book says that a gun can be very easy to get their hands on. Group post

We are at the part where Gary and Brendan are in the gym with the hostages and have the them  tied up in the center of the gym shooting at the ceiling. And Gary starts to feel guilty  for his actions and he didn’t want to continue with the sadistic act.

These will cure my aching head,Help me see again
These will take away the guilt
Ease my soul again
Leave it in my fears
And I see theres nowhere to run
Feelin these changes, and the need to go alone
And I see theres blood in the sun
Pouring through my window
And the evening light is gone
And I made a pact to myself
That I'm spinning in my pain or my guilt
And I feel the way, I commend
That I'm spinning in my pain all again
Feel this when I lay my head
On a nail filled bed
These will change the way it is
Break me free again
Listen to my prayers
And I feel that its all in the past
Memory of children, and the innocents I ain't
And I feel that its oceans away
I'm favoring conscience,The decree of my strength
I need a pass to myself`````
That I'm spinning in my pain or my guilt
I feel the weight I create
When I'm spinning in my pain or my guilt
All again...I made amends to myself
That I'm spinning in my pain or my guilt
I feel the weight I create
When I'm spinning in my pain or my guilt
All again  By: Cool For August (Spinning)

These lyrics talk about how guilt is painful and wraps around you and gets in your head. This has to do with the book and the theme of guilt because Gary felt  guilt over what they were doing and tried to get out of it by talking to Brendan to deal with the situation because he felt guilt. In The end of the song it talks about how they have guilt inside of them and its painful to keep living through it.

Tie-In

Spoiler Alert
                                                                 Gun control proposition
This means that guns violence has become an issue, which it has and that there might be a new gun control law to help prevent cases like the incident that occurred in Sandy Hook Elementary. And the shooting in the book and how it could have been prevented if there were no  " "military-style" assault weapons" allowed. Even though in the book there was only one death by gun, someone still died and it could have been avoided if not for the issue with guns and how easily obtainable they are.
